Because I know the brand has been around for years I'm almost embarrassed to say I'm new to the OXO line, but so glad to have finally discovered it. I haven't bothered to price compare when purchasing their items. Not because I can afford not to, far from it...but because the utensils they sell make cooking so effortless that whatever the cost is it's worth it.I wouldn't imagine there'd be such a difference when it comes to a simple measuring cup and I told myself I'd never again purchase another plastic one because I've had issues with other brands.I buy those 2.5 gallons of water with the spouts on the front of the container and keep them in the fridge and that's the water I use for cooking. Everytime I need to measure water for a recipe it involves using the container's spout to put water in the cup, setting the cup upright on the counter, waiting until it settles in the cup so I can see how much more I need, then repeating.I'd seen these measuring cups in the past but couldn't imagine the use for being able to measure while at a slant or how it might work. Then one day while trying to measure water from the fridge I thought about how this cup might come in handy if I could figure out how to use it. I finally decided to go for it and found this one here on Amazon but couldn't find it in glass. Then it occurred to me how heavy a quality 2 cup glass measuring cup is and I decided it might be a bit much for me to handle so I made the decision to try another plastic one since I was going with a quality brand.As soon as I unboxed this I immediately noticed how balanced it felt in my hand and the first time using it I wasn't disappointed. I quickly caught on to measuring at a slant and noticed that unlike the lesser quality brands where I have to give the water time to settle before being able to get an accurate measurement, I got an accurate reading almost immediately. Something about the balance of this cup makes liquid settle quickly. Just as with every other OXO product I've purchased this has made cooking a dream.Once again, way to go OXO and once again ?? and a ?!Easy to read by looking *in* the cup. Once you've used this you won't want to go back to the old way.We've had ours 4 years now, goes through the dishwasher regularly.One minor complaint is that the handle sheath is loose. Other than that, it's perfect.I bought this because I got tired of the writing on my glass measuring cups disappearing over time. This cup is easy to read and the writing is painting on under the plastic ledge. Hoping it won't wear offI've used the glass ones for years, but I decided to take a chance on these plastic ones. They've done the job very well, and I really like how much easier they are to read than my old ones were.When I needed to replace my 1cup measure, I purchased a Pyrex. All of the gradations washed off in the dishwasher in a few months, so I had to replace it. I have had excellent luck in the past with OXO brands. So I purchased this measure. I have not been disappointed thus far. I have been using it heavily for several months and have had no issues with it, but I chose not to rank its sturdiness until I have been using it longer.It's handy and useful.Downsides are you cannot use it in the dishwasher, so using it for anything except water gets me thinking twice. Due to the way it's designed it's not the easiest to wash by hand...Am not really good in the kitchen. This thing helps me measure properlyEasy to use & very easy 2 use. Would highly recommendI've become so bored of life that I am writing a review of a measuring jug. This measuring jug measures things. Which, I would suggest, is the least you'd want from a measuring jug. I do like how you can see the measurements from a birds' eye view rather than sit the thing on the counter and bend down while tilting your head to the side to see if you've put the right amount of liquid in. This cheeky little addition to the traditional measuring jug - YES, you can still look on the side - is welcome.So, why not five stars? Because this is a replacement jug for an identical one that broke after a few goes in the dishwasher... meaning I have to wash it by hand. BY. HAND.I already have the larger 1 litre jug and love it - would never go back to having one without internal measurements! I regularly use it, throw it in the dishwasher and it's perfect.I thought I'd treat myself to the smaller 500ml one, which is of course very similar, but was disappointed to find UK Fluid Ounces on the side instead of Cups.I've just come back to check again - all the pictures on this listing clearly show cups... The vast majority of my recipes use cups... while this is still a perfectly good jug for things like gravy it's a bit inconvenient for measuring anything :-(Always read the description! We bought this to replace our previous OXO which had given years of good service and was delight to use. It did not however survive a 2m fall onto floor tiles, the handle snapped off. The new one is just as good but unlike it's predecessor's 1 Litre capacity has a capacity of 500 millilitres - always read the description!!!Its still a good measuring jug and we don't miss the larger capacity as much as we thought we would. We have a number of OXO utensils and gadgets all are very well made with a thought through design that make them very functional and comfortable and easy to use.Bought one of these about 2 years ago and the handle snapped off after about a year. As it is good to use for smaller measurements, I bought a replacement 5 months ago. However, the handle has snapped off again so I won't be replacing as there us clearly a serious design fault.I use a measuring cup every day from making coffee, cooking or the occasional baking. Every single person who has used a measuring cup can tell you the only annoying thing about them is leaning over to check your measurement-- especially if you have neck or back problems. Thankfully OXO has removed this factor! You can accurately see the measurement overhead and the grippy handle is nice if you been dealing with greasy or oily foods.The one con is quite clear, the cup is entirely plastic. While they rate it as dishwasher friendly, I'd recommend against microwaving. If OXO could make this out of a Pyrex style glass, this would be a 5 star winner that I'm pretty sure any home cook, baker, chef or really any human being who has a kitchen would buy without hesitation.If this helped, please click the button below!
